Alumni Share Industry Experience

A first time event GRAD/TALK gave BFA Advertising students an opportunity to speak with graduates from 2008 - 2011, who currently are working in the industry. The informative conversation which I attended was met with great enthusiasm not only from the majority of students in the Advertising Design Program at FIT, but also the alumni, and faculty members that attended. Questions with regards to how the industry looks for fresh ideas and constant interaction with their clients was not only informative but lead to how the industry has changed from working with just an art director and copy-writer to involving a creative technologist to create a team of three. Students that graduated shared their personal experiences from how clients expect their graphics to appear to how you need to learn HTML, Flash, typeface, web design and digital media programs, which effectively maintains client’s presence in a global competitive industry but also gives an edge for the team to successfully create an effective ad campaign.

Sculptured Leaves

Sculptured leaves pass by my window
Falling lightly to the ground
Auburn, ginger, sun-kissed brown
Colors whirling as winter approaches
Sharing memories of golden days
The warmth of summer
The light of day then Fall remembers
Winters Song.

Christmas in New York City is a most exciting time of the year; with visitors from all over the world, the city offers so many places and restaurants but decorations such as these Christmas hangings make one stop and rejoice in the spirit, excitement and joy of a New Year.

de Kooning at MoMA

I didn't expect to enthralled with the de Kooning, exhibit at the MoMA but after seeing a retrospective of his art, I was amazed at the process of change through his life that effected his work. A drawing of his then girlfriend whom he later married titled: Elaine is so beautifully rendered, he later transferred the image onto a 20 x 24" canvas oil colors that unveils his sense of passion for color and her. FIT students with ID are admitted FREE. Through January 9, 2012.
